MyCloud

Software platform

As cloud storage giants like Dropbox and Google Drive rose, Western Digital needed to reassert its relevance. We helped them launch MyCloud, a hybrid solution that gave users cloud-like access to their own physical drives—an answer to growing privacy concerns. By reframing WD as a secure, user-owned alternative to big tech, we repositioned them in a crowded market.

Our work delivered a unified UI/UX pattern library, feature recommendations, and a phased release roadmap. The interface emphasized clarity and tool-like usability, expressed through a signature blue palette. We streamlined search, filtering, and sharing into simple flows—turning basic file exchange into curated, album-like experiences that added context and narrative.

On mobile, we prioritized speed and feedback with a pared-down feature set: backup status, recent activity, and quick file access. By transforming a technical problem into an approachable, human story about personal data, we gave users confidence and control while helping WD stand apart from its competitors.
